Conference Travel Awards

The McMaster Indigenous Research Institute offers travel awards to McMaster students and postdoctoral fellows who are presenting at a conference.  MIRI has a limited amount of funding to support travel of trainees in order to enhance their research training experience in the area of knowledge dissemination and sharing.  Reimbursement of travel related expenses will be awarded for trainees presenting at national or international conferences.

For 2020, MIRI will accept applications on February 28th  and September 30th

Eligibility criteria

Undergraduate students, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows enrolled at McMaster are eligible to apply, provided:

  • An abstract has been submitted and accepted
  • The applicant has not received a MIRI travel award in the previous 12 months
  • Proof of attendance and presentation at conference is submitted (conference booklet)

Amount of award

The award will not exceed $500 for conferences within Ontario.  For national and international conferences, the maximum award will not exceed $1500.

Eligible costs are conference registration, accommodations, and transportation.
